The huge population of India is the chief obstacle on the way of social and economic development. The remedial measures of over population lie with the increase in production and decrease in population.
1. Increase in production:
The production can be made in two ways:
A) Agricultural production:
India is an agricultural country and majority of its population depends on agriculture.
Agricultural production can be increased –
(1) With implementation of advanced agricultural methods.
(2)Maximum utilization of barren lands for cultivation.
(3) Use of improved hybrid seeds and provisions for irrigation facilities.
2. Industrial production:
Huge population needs more cloths and foods. They also require more materials for construction of dwelling houses. To meet all these requirements industrial development is essential.
